Certainly heard of them but not owned one personally.

That's the model with the two front locker access hatches in the front of the side wall isn't it?

Gordon.

Probably a sign of a mis-spent youth. ..

Good luck with the Windrush and let us know how you get on.

I have now got the windrush outside my house. I spent all day yesterday cleaning the inside. You know how its is when you get a new caravan, give it a good clean, then all the dirt afterwards is your own! :D

I was very impressed by the overall build quality, the van is far from new but the interior is still like new with no bits of trim hanging off or rattling cupboard doors, and everything still works. A vast difference from the Deanline Rambler Ive owned for the last year.

Unfortunately though when my friend who I bought the van from had the van in storage, some kind person smashed the toilet/shower room window. I have put a temporary piece of perspex over the hole where the window used to be for now, but does anyone know where I can get a replacement window in the Kent area??.

Hello Steve.

I have just found this group. I'm glad you like your 'new' van. I have had a 15/2 1984 Windrush now for about 8 years and have not regretted one minute! When I have more time I may get round to telling you more about it. We have got around a bit, well up into Scotland, down to Lake Annecy in France and last year to the Mosel valley in Germany. I tow with a Vauxhall Astra 2. 0 diesel. No problems. Excellent balance.

In the meantime, have a look at www. hawkhurst. freeserve. co. uk/caravan/ where there are a few photos of locations and of the van itself.

I must get round to updating the site sometime and adding some more photos. Let me know what you think, and if you want some advice.

Regards,

John B.

Well you've certainley got about a bit in your caravan, and to some beautiful places as well judging by the photos. My windrush is a different shape at the front, as mine has the gas and battery lockers either side at the front rather than the separate locker on the A frame. Mine also has a one piece window at the front which doesn't open, I noticed that yours does. They are a lovely caravan though, and I hope mine gives me many years of service as well, as I think I will be travelling about a bit in the future when work allows.

Our first caravan was a 1977 Cotswold Windrush! Tip up sink, no loo, no mains electric, footpump for the water, and gas lights. 12' two berth and it weighed 15cwt solid as a rock. Those were the days - about 1986 I think we bought it, so it was about 9 years old then, and so well looked after. Good luck with yours!

The owners club "The Windrush Club" is still very active with 20 plus rallies this year, I am the current Chairman and a link to the club is on one of the previous postings in this section.

Hi Peter

I tried to access the Owners Club Website but it appears to be defunct is the Cotswold Windrush Owners Club still in existance?

Many Thanks

Stuart

It was a caravan I always wanted but could not tow because my car was not up to it and when I had a car that could, I could not find one.

When I did finally find one, I had spent my money on a different van. :(
