Your Total Honesty Please

Recommended Posts

Right got your attention, I don't often start a thread but this is a quick poll.

How many of you kerb your vans tyres while towing and how often?

I'm not talking a gentle rub up against a kerb but a good thwack, enough to cause you concern that damage may have been done

No long answers please, just, a couple of times, once a year, never, did till I got used to it, etc

Oh, I should have said, and in how many years of towing

Less than once a year knowingly - but no idea how many other times!!

Actually having re-read Gary's post - never, not that bad anyway.

A real good bang; once in thirty plus years, I did a deliberate, forced, accident avoiding off side wheel detour over a centre island kerb on roundabout. Got away without significant damage.

Never, but I've only been towing for 10 months.

The very first time I took it out my passenger said the caravan tyre was very near the kerb on the exit to a roundabout, so I've been careful ever since.

Hi Gary,

I think I can see where you're going on this one. It would appear from the many posts on this and other forums that the ultimate effect and the original cause are never connected.

never in 12 years, although I do admit to doing a bit of hedge trimming.

Yes.

Maybe two occasions in 10 years.

Tyres replaced on current caravan at 5 years old. No obvious signs of damage internally or externally.

Personally never, but we were at Wetherby services on the A1 last Sunday and I saw 5 out of 9 clatter the kerb whilst leaving the parking area due to poor positioning and lack of spacial awareness. One (a newish Swift) ended up on one wheel
