Electrolux Fridge Vents

Recommended Posts

My Swift year 2000 Electrolux fridge doesn't ignite on gas - for when we're wild camping. I read here that by removing the external vents it could be that I just need to clean the gas jets. We very rarely use the fridge on gas so I want to clean the jets.

On the outside I have 2 vents with no apparent screws holding these vents on except each vent has a single white plastic screw head that allows 1/4 of a turn.

How do I remove these vents?

Turn white screws 1/4 turn and carefully lever vents out from the screw end.

Hi

What model fridge us fitted?. It may not be possible "to clean the jet" with the fridge in situ. I would suggest you rule out other possibilities first, such as making sure the gas is on and sufficient time has elapsed to allow the gas to purge itself on route to the burner. Also check that the ignitor is operating ie you are getting a spark.

If the fridge hasn't been used on gas for some time, it may be that debris or even a spider, has got into the burner. You can only "clean" burner jets by blowing with compressed air. Don't try to poke anything into the jet as this will damage it. A frequent cause of failure to ignite is a blocked or sooted flue. You may be able to get at this from outside but in all honesty you may dislodge debris and actually block the jet more. More often than not the fridge will require removal.

Hope that is of some help.

Thanks

paul
