I have just bought an ABI prestige twin axle and the fan makes a screetch/ whining at times. Occasionaly a slight tap to the side of the unit restores quiet but not for long. Any one come accross this before?

I do!!

The motor shaft runs in pre lubricated bronze bushes, they have dried out and that is the reason for the noise. You will need to take the unit out, remove the motor and oil the bushes to have any chance of quietening it down for any length of time. I use a special heat proof spray grease designed for fan motors in comb-boilers.

The shafts are only 3mm diameter which wear the bushes and any play at all will not help with either quiet or overloading the control board, so if you find any you must replace the motor before it does further harm.

The fan by the way is held by a 2mm allen grub screw on the motor side of the fans central boss. ..and it's a pig to get at!?

Yes mate. ..how many would you like?. I also have the control boards of both designs, either new or serviced exchange.

One problem I do have is the over temperature reset switch?, while I have sourced a supply I cannot get a reasonable price at a reasonable quantity. I need to spend upward of £5000 to get effectively 10 years stock at a sellable price.
