dtg
Hi all. woke up this morning van was parked outside and the water pump was running continuously without any water being drawn off. Noticed the battery meter in van was reading about 11volts. When i turned on the mains supply the pump stopped. I presume the low voltage on battery upset the way the pump functioned. Anyway cant get hold of a leisure battery at the moment can i use an ordinary car battery 69amps as a teporary stop gap? Dave

RogerL
Yes, I've used an old, but serviceable (5-10 yrs old), car battery in all my caravans over the last 20 or so years. They'll only tolerate deep-cycling a few times but other than that they work just as well as an expensive "leisure" battery.
