Caravaning In Switzerland

Recommended Posts

Well it's only 8weeks to go and we are off on our summer hols :D we have caravaned in europe before but never actually stopped in Switzerland er-in-doors was wondering what the nighttime tempeture is like around this time of year, so we can go well prepared is it likely to be a little higher than it is here. If you have been your experience would be very much appreciated. We are going to the Lake Geneva area to lasaunne campsite.

North of the Alps temperatures are similar to the UK BUT depends on the weather on the day SO Geneva, Lausanne, Montreaux etc as per France, UK etc. Cross the Alps and it becomes much warmer but still comfortable at night until you get down to the Med then it can become very sticky.

Discovery 4 XS SDV6 and Airstream 532 plus 1996 MGF owned since new.

I'm sure you have done your homework well and you know that if you use Swiss motorways and express roads you need a vignette for car and caravan. If you are entering Switzerland via Pontarlier/Frasne it is possible to get to Lausanne without using motorways. There is a good site at Hopitaux Neufs just before the border. BTW the Swiss have become very strict on what can be taken into Switzerland, drink AND food wise. The French supermarket just before the border at Frasne has a long list of items and quantities allowed. Basically aimed at Swiss doing over the border shopping but it does apply to everyone and some of the items and low quantities allowed were quite surprising.
