Visiting Monaco, Any Tips?

Recommended Posts

We are staying in the South of France in August this year. One of our days out will e a trip to Monaco. Has anyone any experience of a visit here and could give us any tips about parking, places to visit, cost etc. We would like to drive the F1 circuit if it is possible. Are there any tourist information places that would be able to help us with things like that?

I think we will take a packed lunch as I immagine eating there will be very expensive :)

Thanks for any help.

Hi Graeme, I was going to say don't buy a sandwich, very expensive, I drove my kids around the F1 circuit but that was many years ago, i suppose you still can as it's public road, we parked along the quay side when we went, whether you still can or not i don't know. It's a lovley place to visit i'm sure you will enjoy the day out.

We have been to Monaco three times, we took the car twice hell to park mostly under ground garages. We did part of the FI circuit. To me it was just a winding road (then I am a woman)

Last time we went we were staying at Imperia in Italy and took the train so no problems, a lovely way to go as the railway line goes along the coast.

We had lunch in a road off the sea front and we thought it was reasonable.

We did the little train ride round Monaco so saw bits of it that we might have missed on foot. :)

A little train joirney around the country sounds like a good idea, we will look into that :)

We will be taking our car so we will have to try and find a car park.

We visited Monaco from the South of France many years ago with the kids. I remember sunbathing on the beach and idly drilling my hands into the sand when I hit clay. Yes, the beach was imported, money no object.

There were lots of ordinary tourists, just like us, and I don't recall the prices being any more expensive than the rest of the South of France, but they were expensive enough. If you take packed lunches in summer, cool bags are essential.

Hi graeme

We stayed in the SOF last year and drove to Monaco and had no trouble parking in one of the underground garages. Monaco is a fantastic place spotlessley clean and obviously a millionaires paradise but it can be enjoyed by anyone. Try to get up to the palace where the views over Monaco are stunning and I am sure you will enjoy a walk round the harbour where you will see the most amazing boats. Where are you staying? we stayed at La Vielle Ferme caravan site which is situated between Nice and Cannes and had 2 weeks of 90 degrees + every day.

The views from the palace are outstanding, the walk up to it is quite invigorating. It's great to see a defibrillator housed halfway up the hill to the palace!

The yachts on the quay are mind blowing.

Great visit.

We are staying at Camping Du Verdon North West of Monaco. It will be a long drive there so We will have an early start. I'll make sure the camera memory card is empty as we will be taking loads of photo's :)

We might try to get to Nice and Cannes if we have time :)

We did the Monaco thing a few years back in June, parked in an underground garage of Casino Square. Not too expensive for a few hours considering where it is.

I think it is better to walk the GP circiit, it gives you more time to look at each bend in detail and take your own pics, especially the hairpin and the tunnel.

My Son and I walked the curcuit, and you do get more of a feel of the race, especially as it comes to the turn with the sea straight ahead, :o if you can visit the Casino, you can go in a play with any amount of money we did it was great, also a coffee in the cafe opposite the casino is about £8, we sat and watch the rich come and go into the Casino, my Son lives near there so it is a place I love to go.
