Gas Hob Igniter Not Working

Hi,

We have and Argent (spinflo) gas 4 burner gas hob the igniters on one of the rings works fine, but it has suddenly stopped working on the other three.

As the one is working I assume the connection to the oven, where the spark generator is, is OK, does anyone have any idea how to fix this ?

Many thanks

It will be a problem either with the connections to the spark generator or the generator packing up.

Either way it is an oven out job which should be left to the dealer or suitably qualified technician as it involves breaking and making gas connections

After breaking and remaking any gas connection, a gas pressure check should be done to double-check that all is well - sadly some manufacturers WON'T pay the dealers for pressure test for warranty work, so some dealers don't do it.

How did I find out? A dealer disconnected our cooker to carry out a warranty repair but failed to tighten the gas union afterwards and didn't do a pressure test - result a gas leak inside the caravan that didn't dissipate through the drop holes - fortunately for others that dealer was an early victim of the recession.

The majority of ignitor boxes, and indeed dragging an oven out suffiently to access them, can be done without disconnecting the gas supply

But for sure, if you are in doubt about the task get it done by someone with ACoPs or Corgi
