Those Little Niggles

Just been getting the van ready for our trip away on Thursday and thought of all those silly things in the van that annoy but you put up with them - I am sure they could so easily be sorted at the design stage.

Entrance mats - they used to fit right across the entrance way and you used to be able to lift them out a for a good clean - the one in this van is about 2/3 the size of the entrance and of course where does all the grit go!!! And - the mat doesn't lift out easily.

Carpets - supposedly lift out, well technically they are but one piece of for the seating area - easy to lift out - the other covers the rest of the van and is shaped to fit all the corners etc - a nightmare to lift out and certainly can't be held your hand to give it a good brush.

Roller blinds in the sun roofs - always seems to hold bits of leaf etc for ever and drop it every time you open or close the blind, especially the one over the permanent bed, we somehow seem to have bits of seeds or similar in there from one season to the next!

Radio aerial that is fitted just below the awning channel on the awning side of the van - you have a choice of awning and poor radio reception or no awning and reasonable radio reception - now that designer never listened to the radio in a caravan in their life!!!!

Mains socket for the kitchen at the end nearest the seats - they are all guilty of this aren't they - just handy for young children to pull on themselves (or even big adults!!)

Finally - why oh why can't they fit a door to the oven that can be removed easily so that you can clean under and around it, especially the wee bit at the bottom where all the crumbs etc seems to go.

That's it - moan over!!!!!

Gin bottle always seems to be empty too.

The older I get, the better I used to be

take a bag of ice cubes, they will keep things cold in the icebox when travelling and are ready for the drink on arrival too. (they usually don't melt either and soon freeze up in the icebox)

We usually do but had spent a couple of days at a friends on the way down to Newark and completely forgot to put some in. Really had to suffer that evening with a lukewarm G&T!!!!
