They are long enough for people under 6' to sleep on as a single berth. The upper bunk folds down to form the backrest of the rear dinette and is fixed to the wooden construction of the van. Sadly the rear windows are prone to damp - so when the wall becomes damp the upper bunk fixing comes away from the walls! I had my van for about six years from new (it went in 1997) and I can speak of the damp problems first hand! I would certainly check the van before considering buying it!
