FM02MZO
We bought a new Spectrum from them in 2005, I only took it to their workshop once, but the workmanship was OK. dave11a
Hi allI am looking for reviews on the service of Lowdham's in Gunthorpe, Nottingham. We bought our van from them (1999) and the salesman was very as was the staff . We haven't had any experience with the service dept yet but the handover was good. I think the servicing pre delivery was done but not sure if the vans are valeted although ours appeared very clean. Would appreciate all views. Thanks Bobby Had great sales (2003 van bought 18 months ago) / pre delivery service etc with them but had a bad experience with the service department a year later (still under waranty) . (Not going into details on the forum) so buying our new Bailey we went elsewhere.
Burnt
We have had excellent service from Lowdhams at Nottingham. .. We have bought 2 vans from them. ...they gave us a great deal when we part exchanged. ..pre-delivery on both vans was good. ..servicing and warranty work have been excellent. .although servicing can be pricey there. ...as you would expect from a main dealer i spose. .. MauriceH
after reading these forums for the last four or five years -- it is apparent that the old maxim --" one mans meat - is another mans poison" is so true. . I have heard good and bad of many dealers - and manufacturers -- I have bought Swift for the past 20 years -- wowowow some people will think I am mad. . I have been with the same dealer for equally as long -- and I have read disparaging reports of both the dealer and the manufacturer. . so what does this prove. ... Absolutely NOTHING. . the only judge is --YOURSELF --go try and see if you like Buy. . if you dont like walk away. . ashtons99
Economic with the truth are 4 words that fit my experience with lowdhams. At the end of last year they tried to sell me a 2008 model Abbey Spectrum as a 2009 model. I asked the salesman 3 times to confirm it was a 2009 year model. He insisted each time it was. It was only when i looked at another dealer and viewed a 2009 model i found lowdhams had tried to palm me off with last years model. Ignorance. ....i dont think so, not after the salesman bragged about his 19 years caravan sales experience!
Arc Systems
Nicely put Maurice, I deal with Lowdhams on almost a weekly basis, looking from the 'other side' I see the genuine effort put in to give you the best service possible. It's a big outfit who have many thousands of customers, therefore selling and servicing a great many vans and motorhomes, they would not have grown so large if not for the simple fact they get it right far far more often than not. Frankly though it would be little short of a miracle to get it right all the time, with the best will in the world it's impossible not to fall over now and again! trevor11sqdn
I have bought Swift vans from this dealer over the the last 6 years, plus many accessories and had all my services done by them. I have always found their sales side pretty good but their service department can leave a lot to be desired (it is well documented on this and other forums). They can be expensive but the department that really is designed to give you major depression is their parts deptartment. You speak to a person through a small serving hatch and have no access to diagrams or other information that would possibly make your request a bit easier. A really depressing experience. rus
Crikey that is expensive!!! I paid £145 for mine at a local dealer. could get mine done by a local guy for £100 plus any parts but they've got you by the gollies if you want to keep your water ingress warranty etc, bloody rip off. It's no different for car warranty servicing - for a minor 12,000 mile service I've just been quoted £194-295 by franchised dealers, £150 by authorised service agent (which does retain the warranty), £100 by independent brand specialist and £80 by my trusted local independent.
