Herzog Vorselte Sunrise

Recommended Posts

Just ordered one of these, delivery in around 2 weeks. I've gone for the 275cm x 290cm model which uses aluminium connector poles.

Having had a disastrous experience with the Sunncamp Scenic I am hoping this will prove to be more robust whilst still offering quick and easy erection and at 10ft x 9ft it should be roomy enough for a small table and chairs.

Anyone else got one of these. What do you think of them?

PS. .. if you do a google search for "vorzelte sunrise" all sites, not UK, it will bring up a number of entries, click "translate" on the far right hand side of the entry as the results will usually be in German.

Nice one N-R-F,

If it's up to the usual Herzog quality it'll be good.

Is it coming from Germany? And how did you pay for it, as many German places won't take UK credit cards??

Tell us how the delivery etc. goes. Awnings are generally cheaper there, and much cheaper in Holland. If they deliver OK then you may be the first of many.

I was about to order it from Germany. You're right, they are much cheaper there and some great styles and designs, makes our UK awnings look positively old fashioned, lets face it apart from slightly different materials they dont seem to have changed much in the last 30 yrs!!!!

I really wasn't sure if I would have to pay import duties or VAT and couldn't find any info on the web but I've ordered it through Jeff Bowen awnings. Will do an in depth review for the forum after my easter trip at the end of the month :)

If you buy from an EU trader who pays his/her local VAT then there is none to pay in the UK also no import tax on most items but there well may be shipping charges.

Regarding credit cards Germany is now starting to catch up with the world and many companies now accept them but again they may charge you a percentage equal to the percentage the card company charge them - 2 to 4 % normally.

I have imported several items from Germany over recent years and have never had a problem.

Having said that there is alway a first time

NRF,

We were looking at this model last year - Jeff Bowen was trying to find out if he could import then. There was no quick answer at the time so we bought a Bradcot Porch. Seeing this link again now I wish we had waited - it looks fantastic.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

Cheers

I posted this earlier in caravan chat, perhaps here would have been more appropriate.

Well, after reading all the posts and taking members advice I have ordered the Herzog Mistral from Jeff Bowenwho told me (him self) ; if it doesn't fit or I'm not happy with it I can return it as long as it's clean. As soon as it comes, I'll put it up and see what it's like.

Just put the Mistral up, what a pain; you need two people at least to get the poles in. It took nearly 40 mins. Then you have to fit the horizontal pole through and hook elastic over it in 15-20 places. This horizontal pole rests directly onto the side of the van (with a lot of force)Even with the van level the awning was 25 cm from the ground.

Then I tried to take it down!!!

As you pull the poles out, they come apart and jam inside the sleeve.

All in all a very frustrating piece of kit, I have already re-packaged it and will be returning it.

Here are some pictures, you can super-size them but you will need broadband.

The design seems similar to the Suuncamp Scenic which took me just a few minutes to put up on my own but your pictures demonstrate very well the design flaw (in my opinion) with this type of product and that is that the ends of the poles are almost in contact with the side of the van with very little by the way of padding or protection to stop the side of the van getting damaged.

I went for the Sunrise because there are no poles against the side of the van. Just hope I have a better experience than you did!!!

I'm still waiting for it!!

Ordered it nearly 5 weeks ago. When I ordered it they said it would be around 3 weeks for delivery so its well overdue now but I will be chasing them this week. I'll do a review for the forum, hopefully with pics, when I get it.
