Rachel,

Good luck with your new Chateau 500 - it's an exciting time for you and your family.

My top tip is to make sure you get the proper handbook - I never did!

I eventually got a copy of one from a group member and I typed it into Word.

My other tip is to look carefully how the 'fridge door opens.

On the first trip we damaged the wooden surround by opening the 'fridge door too wide.

Once the horse had bolted, we put a pad there to prevent further damage.

You can see the damage in the second photo below.

If you have any questions, ask me.

Enjoy your purchase.

Yours

Dave

Does the new Lunar's have solid wood beds then and not slatted ones?

I was amazed at my Avondale that that doesn't have slatted beds and will find out how damp they get soon. If they get damp I will change them all to slatted beds.

Do the Lunar cushions get very damp or not very much?

My Lunar Chateau double bed is "solid". So is the single bed.

The bunk beds in the back are slatted.

I don't think the solid ones get too damp - but then again we don't "winter caravan".

Don't forget, the Lunar Chateaus are not made in the UK. "Original" Lunars are made in the UK - they may well still be slatted.

Dave

PS You may like to ask the question in the General Chat area. The slatted/not slatted debate must apply to all caravans.
