Which caravans have the widest fixed bunks

Hi everyone

Trying to upsize from a 4 berth to a 6 berth. I have 3 teenagers (15-17years)

I was wondering which caravans have the widest  fixed bunks - I noticed some are as small as 57 cm wide.

I looked at the Adria triple bunk which seemed a decent size but with little headroom . I’m on a budget so looking at older models around 2004-2010.

The Avondale dart 556/6 also seems ok?

id welcome  any advice - I know an awning will be useful extra space but as a single Mum with an autistic son , I like to keep the setting up etc simple!  :)

Most Adrias have double bunks and the headroom is normal I would say. I've spent several nights on our lower bunk (5'11) and always sleep well. Better than the front double actually!

Thank you so much

is the front double smaller than a normal front double bed ? They seem to be

Once set up the front double is plenty big enough because there is no chest of drawers in the way. Larger caravans have longer front benches which obviously convert to a larger bed. But to squeeze the large bunks (as per the Adria) in a medium size van, something has to give!

We looked at a couple of other British vans (Elddis, Swift) and whilst I didn't get the tape measure out, the bunks appeared noticeably smaller than the Adrias.

If you want full sized bunks you need to be looking at foreign makes but not much choice in UK unfortunately. Use eBay search for the usual German makes & you may strike lucky.

This one for example has full width bunks.

Hello

Having had a quick look there are two caravans that may suit your needs both on Autotrader.

Geist

Hymer.

any chance you could post the link ?

I saw a knaus 2003 ? Is that a high spec make ? Is it very wide ?

Hi Zai

The Geist one has gone off Autotrader.

I have put these up so you can get an Idea what you like.

One of the Adria's does not have fixed bunks but sleeps 6 with more space.

Some maybe out of your price range but hopefully its a starting point.

You haven't said anything about vehicle or max weight of caravan.

That might help others on advising you.

I would put money that Adria have the wider bunks than most British vans, But there's more choice with British vans.

Regards

David

Hi

That's a good start many people use them.

I think they weight around 2 ton so keeping to a 85% ratio, Would be a caravan not weighing more than 1700kg in total .
