Best sealant for window frames

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Three years ago I resealed all the window frames on my 2011 Coachman caravan as they started leaking. I used Hodgson Seamseal CV which I thought was the correct sealant to use. However two windows are leaking again. I am sure I put plenty of sealant around the frames, maybe too much even.

Can anyone recommend a better sealant please? I don't want to use Sikaflex 512 as I think that bonds too well and if ever I broke a window it would be nigh on impossible to remove.

Any suggestions please?

Check this site. It maybe you need new rubber seals. They also come with an adhesive within the channel.

Any joints in the seal are best made in the lower section.

Coachman use Bostik-Simpson 70-03. However that is similar to Sikaflex512 and also bonds. The aforementioned is available from Kenmore Caravans and others.
