Will you be having the covid vaccine?

How will we tell which people have been vaccinated? We need to be sure those who refuse vaccination go to the back of the queue for medical treatment etc. Certificates etc. are all very well, but open to abuse. Why not put a microchip in those who are vaccinated at the same time as the injection? Then paramedics, triage nurses, doctors receptionists etc. can contactlessly scan everybody and send the unvaccinated to the back. Taking it a bit further, other advantages could be given as an incentive for taking up the vaccine. Priority shopping slots, early access to club sites with the unchipped getting the pitches next to the toilets and play areas after the warders have scanned them etc. We could get the economy moving again with Vac Friday special offers. Get vaccinated and get a free towbar on your new Skoda Octavia, 2020 models only, terms and conditions apply!

As soon as it's made clear that the only way you can travel overseas is in possession of a Covid vaccination certificate, they'll very soon fall in line for a jab! A stamp in your passport like a visa should do it, as long as the price of falsification will be confiscation of the passport.

Yesterday Just walking round my place of work (NHS HOSPITAL) in and out of covid wards I came upon this pinned to a notice board next to the chaplains office and place of worship. I am not a religious' person, but there is something about this , that interest's me. don't know what.

So I thought I would share it with you all.

It appears that the "wonderful" Piers Corbyn has been arrested again. He was arrested as being one of the organisers of an anti lockdown group in Bristol. Mr Corbyn referenced conspiracy theories regarding a "new world order" and a plot for world domination. The protest was promoted by StandUpX which states on its website that it opposes coronavirus lockdowns, social distancing, mask wearing and "forced vaccinations". It also spreads conspiracy theories regarding "surveillance tracking" and 5G technology stating that the telecoms technology is harmful. I assume that Mr Corbyn won't be putting his name forward to receive the jab when/if it becomes available.

It does make you question what exactly the likes of Corbyn “lite”  have between their ears doesn’t it?

It would appear that in his case the “logical” and the “common sense” bits were either never installed or have broken down.

I wonder how easy it is to breathe when your head is stuck in the sand (or up somewhere else :o

Experience is something you acquire after you have an urgent need for it.

Piers Corbyn was a very bright Physics post grad at Imperial College. He and I used to enjoy pulling each others posters down. He was Soc Soc Chair when I was Con Soc chair. All of 51 years ago.

Horrid little man.

Can’t have been that bright.  Any far left socialist show me a successful far left country with a happy people I’ll listen.  Otherwise just how many people were shot breaking into Russia.

The government department responsible have spent £670,000 on PR advisors, presumably to convince everyone to have the vaccine.

The scientists who developed it say we won’t see the benefits until next summer.

That’s true but what they mean is benefits population wide. For those able and willing to be vaccinated early next year should see the benefits almost immediately. I’m hoping to have mine in the second cohort, in time to have something like a ‘normal ‘ Easter with any luck. If so, I may consider venturing to France in June and Lanzarote in November, if the situation over there allows. Ditto NZ in January 2022 if they reopen to tourism.

I just came across this interesting piece in a Spanish newspaper:-

Most people in the world will need to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, so the price of the injection is an essential factor in making the drug accessible to all. The price difference between the three vaccines is significant: the one developed by Oxford University and the biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca will cost around €3 per dose; the one developed by the US multinational Pfizer and the German biotech company BioNTech will cost more than €15 per dose; and the one developed by the US company Moderna and the US National Institutes of Health will cost €21 per dose, seven times more than the Oxford vaccine.

I might be jumping the gun a bit but I have just had my second injection. I am on one of the trials so I don't know if I have had the covid jab or the placebo.

Oxford University and AstraZeneca did state from the outset that any successful vaccine they develop will be supplied on a non-profit, production cost basis to assist affordability,  especially in the poorest countries. The others appear to be following their standard business models.

Even $21 is cheap... I did some work at Abbott Labs at Queenborough many year ago.  At that point the site was split into two, one producing packaged pharmaceuticals, the other producing intermediate pharmaceutical chemicals.  The latter plant  was responsible for £65m per annum.  The annual volume was 5000kg....  You do the maths...

All of this stuff requires incredibly tough and regulated process adherence (GMP) and some very complex and intricate processes

I am torn. Having a very rare blood cancer and on 11 types of drugs daily (some twice a day) and one being Chemo daily, I would like to know if the vaccine will have any effect on them, if so, then I will pass and keep doing what I am doing now. I do wonder who they used for the trials, if it was on fit and well health wise then it does not give assurance to take it. Just my own opinion of course. My next Consultant meeting will be  in a few weeks to check my blood test results, so will be asking him about it.

Just been on the lunchtime news that the first delivery will arrive from Belgium later today via Euro Tunnel after overcoming a technical issue with the transport storage temperature.

Methinks the media have got too excited about it 🥳

is your immune system compromised, if so  I doubt if you will be in the running for  a vaccine, but , of course , your consultant will know best.

For me ?...."NO" ...Why ?.....Well my 63 years on this planet has made me the twisted cynical old beggar I am !..

I ask ?...

Why is UK the 1st to get approval of vaccine developed in Belgium  in a worldwide epedemic ?.....(guinea pigs for the rest of the  world ?.....Or is this another example of how the UK want to police the planet ?....With this and climate change ......No petrol ..Diesel cars etc ?..)..

I'm happy to take my chances until it's been rolled out ......And see what actually happens !!

I've survived the worst until now......So if it works ?.....The my chances are even lower ?...

"Told you I was a cynic !"..

P.S....

I am the one in 1000 who gets a reaction to the flu jab !..

Well I guess you not having a vaccine will mean you will have to continue stopping in, not going places, not seeing your family, wearing masks, hand washing, keeping 2 m apart, having to consider you might have caught it if you venture out and in a week might be in hospital and a week or so later may unfortunately be no longer with us. The virus will not disappear and it was said by J. Van Tam this morning that if not enough people are vaccinated then restrictions will have to continue. At your age though you should be doing everything you can to make sure the time you have left can be enjoyed as much as possible, none of us are getting younger, I do not want to spend my last years stuck inside.

It wasn't developed in Belgium.   Pfizer is a US Company with labs and offices all around the world.   In the UK they have their laboratories in Sandwich, Kent and their offices in Tadworth - around four miles from my home.   It was around 5 years ago that Pfizer closed down their factory in Sandwich.   It's just that Belgium is now our nearest factory.

According to the Guardian, the US, UK and Germany have each announced plans to begin vaccinations in their countries in December, while Spain said it would start administering the vaccine to its citizens in January.

Yes it is quite low, Spoke to him last week and he wanted to increase dose of Chemo but reluctant due to flu season and of course Covid. So he is reviewing again in a few weeks.  So it is a very fine line to balance.

Will I be having the Covid 19 vaccine, simple answer 100% yes, if  they have asked me to volunteer I would have gladly .

I am nearly 65, an Asian male with a brain injury, diabetes and scarring to my lungs, and more than happy to join the queue.
