How to remove rust stains on the floor?

Recommended Posts

We have just collected our 2018 caravan and on lifting the carpets, we found marks on the flooring, most likely caused by rust from spare tyres stored there by the previous owner.  Can anyone advise what we can use to try to remove the marks?  We have tried white spirit.  Many thanks in advance. Chemically oxalic acid crystals are your best bet. It's a weak acid which will "dissolve" the iron oxide rust without damaging the vinyl (make a paste with water). It also forms a "complex" with the iron ions assisting the stain removal.

Well that's the chemical theory, anyway.

Oxalic acid is toxic, so don't lick your fingers.

If you can't buy any try rhubarb leaves!

Try ‘fallout remover’ a car valeting product. Removes iron oxide and carbon from car paintwork.
