Stop over en route to eurotunnel from M40

Recommended Posts

Hi

thanks in advance for any ideas.  We are have a eurotunnel booked for lunchtime next friday. Coming from Birmingham we normally do it on the day.  We thought for extra excitement we might get down the m40 the evening before after work but I am not having much luck finding a site around the m25 or the tail end of the m40.

we are members of CCC but all sites are saying 2 nights minimum, and pitchup is giving me nothing. Are there really no campsites in this part of the world?

any suggestions gratefully received

Although it is obviously further, CMC's Black Horse Farm at Folkestone specialises in providing overnight accomodation for tunnel travellers and are more likely to accept single night bookings.

Perhaps I shouldn't say so on here, but UKCS has a broad ranging campsite search section.  There are sites outside the options from the two Clubs

The CAMH have several round there if you want to join them or looks at a CS.  The Black Horse Farm site has pitches for early departures and late arrivals but probably not for you.

You could also try https://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/campsites/campsite-finder/

There are large numbers of sites on there.

thanks for suggestions of other places to look.

folkestone is too far, we'd as well stay at home.  I thought this would be a popular request but apparently not that much!

I'll do a bit more searching and report back on what I find.

Try Alderstead heath it’s a cmc site, come off J8 M25 and it’s about 10 mins from the  motorway 👍

There is a Camping and Caravan Club Site at Chertsey.  It is close to the M25 and about sixteen miles from the M40.  However, this may be one where you need to book for two nights.

When we both worked, we solved this by stopping at a CL at Horndon on the Hill. This Is just off the A13 eastbound, about 8 miles from the M 25 just before the. Elizabeth bridge. Has hook ups only. Good pub/ restaurant in village
