Scubadudes
Just noticed tonight that the leg is very rotten at the bottom. Does this need replacing or can I just fit a stand on a structural point that is about 2.5 feet away. Just wondered what the usual plan of action would be on a 11 year old static. The current leg is welded in place. I've included a photo (if it shows up) Many thanks 👍
Stevan
A common practice on statics is to build a support out of bricks or breeze blocks.
Easy T
I had a static on a residential site many years ago. The steady legs were not used on the sited van at all. Supported on breeze blocks the same as the axle tube. Quote Alan 2005 Nissan X-trail 4WD diesel and Swift Charisma 540 2012 Lunar Clubman ES 2018 Lunar Clubman ES
2seaside
Attached link from NACO helps explain. The corner steadies on a static or park home are used ONLY while the van is being positioned. They are NOT to be used as stands, proper axle stands are to be used (or frequently blocks). Whoever sited your van was either a cowboy or totally ignorant or both. https://www.nacoservices.com/static-caravan-advice/advice-on-siting-a-static-holiday-caravan-or-lodge

Many people leave them down any way, as in the van in the background. Quote Common sense isn't a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it. Scubadudes
Thanks for all the replies everyone. We purchased the caravan last year and straight away I noticed there was very little support underneath. I added 4 x axle stands to the rear half using the marked structural points. Now I know the the legs should not be relied on for supporting the van I'll get more axle stands for the front and fit to marked points. Also I'll check the others are carrying some weight and that the axle is supported as in @2seasides link Much appreciated everyone
