Elddis Molly
This weekend I'm going to be replacing the rotten wall strutst in MOLLY, there the top,two middle and bottom including arround the windows, do I need to support the roof while I do it? Has anyone every done it and can advise me of the best way? Any advise on the process of the work would be greatly appreciated Thanks Edited July 30, 2020 by Elddis Molly
Stevan
Be careful! By removing the inner skin and fitted furniture you have already taken away a lot of the strength, taking away any more strength by cutting timbers back to fully sound wood could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. By all means cut away rotten timbers but consider some temporary strengthening while you do it.
Elddis Molly
Cheers Steven that's what I thought I'm best doing it a wall at a time and supporting the ceiling as I go
Lockin
Perhaps put some temporary timbers as well local to the area of the original struts so that the roof and sides keep their shape
