Interior lighting upgrades

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm newbie to owning a static caravan,  i have purchased a 2007 willerby salisbury and just wondered if anyone has upgraded the wall lights in their statics and plug sockets..if so can I use normal domestic light fittings or do I have to look on specialised sites, any help would be appreciated..thank you..Steve

Hi, I have not changed any light fittings, just upgraded the bulbs to LED ones.  The fittings in my van are standard mains unit as used in domestic housing.  Regarding sockets, I will (as soon as I can get access to the van) change some of the sockets for similar ones, but with USB charging points included.  These again, are standard domestic units.

Hi,thanks for your reply I will be doing the same regarding the bulbs as for the plug sockets advertised on caravan parts suppliers websites the back boxes are differant to domestic ones just wondered if domestic ones would fit as more choice and cheaper..let's hope we can get access soon..stay safe!

Hi, we have replaced all lights and sockets throughout our van,  Willerby Salisbury too 🤗🤗 only ours is a little older than yours, don't know if it's 1997/98/99 tbh. We've had her for 5 years now and hope for another 15-20 at least 🥰 I've just finished re-decorating the front room, the hallway/passage, revamped kitchen cupboards and put a log burner in. Just need new carpets and sofa to finish off the front end before I start on bathroom and bedrooms this year and I can't bloody wait to get cracking. Hope you love yours as much as we love ours and get as much pleasure from it❣️

One point regarding changing wall plug sockets to those with a USB charging point. I have found that they need the deeper rear wall box so if you have the shallow modern back box fitted, the USB front won't fit.

It's worth taking a front off and measuring. But take care if it is live.

Thanks for that info Wispman, I will have a look when the Site opens.  I have deeper boxes, if the wall can accomodate them.
