What an appalling attitude - you won't do things you're asked to do in the worst global crisis since WW2.

Flat_at, yu should be ashamed of yourself making such stupid and selfish comments, most people on this forum are sensible and know what the consequences are if we all take your attitude, disgraceful

Absolutely crazy, we all I am sure would like to have the option to a painless and efficient end to life rather than protracted and very expensive long term suffering. It should be our choice when we've had enough.

To some extent, it is.   Four years ago my sister in law suffered a stroke whilst dancing at her 92nd birthday party.   By the time she reached hospital, she was still unconscious however, they managed to bring her back from the brink.   She spent the next nine months languishing in a hospital bed.    She had lost her power of speech and she was unable to swallow.   She was kept alive with nutrients and medication being dripped through a tube into her stomach.   I was horrified - but also angry that a human being could be kept alive simply because we had the technology.    I was so upset, I talked to my doctor.   He explained that patients may specify their wishes using an advance directive.   Between us, we drew up what amounts to a legal document forbidding any form of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.   Medical records are suitably endorsed and a copy of the directive can be carried on the person. ................ Should the patient wish to reverse the decision at a later stage, that can be done.

it looks to me like the factories , clothes shops, coffee shops are all closing down for the duration now ,  oh and caravan sites,  so the decision to go out will be taken from us.  When seeing on the TV the people congregating in the countryside and on the beaches, they must be in denial, it can't happen to them. I hope they're right, but we know they're not, the worse is yet to come. We have just spent a hour 'putting our house in order ' making sure that we each know what's what.   Our son cannot  visit, we told him that, so he phones every day.  I don't know what more we can do, we have never known anything like this before.  We will get prats saying silly things, sometimes just to wind you up, they're best ignored.

You sound as if you have your house in order Joanie. Stay Safe and follow the government guidence and I'm  sure you will be just fine. Was NS last night in  the Fire Station and just can't beleive some of the ignorance that is happening up and down the country. Some of the tourist hot spots were busier than a Bank Holiday Monday... Denial indeed and simply sheer stupidity.....

Hi Flat_at,

What are your dates?

I'm guessing that your dates are sometime after the end of March.

I would say it is a pretty sure thing that whoever you have booked with will be closed down very soon.

Just sit tight, a refund is very likely.

Haven website posted 19th March that their parks are closed to holidaymakers from 20th March to 16th April. All holidaymakers will be asked to leave the park tomorrow (i.e, 20th March).

ADDED  Parkdean(Park Resorts) have closed all parks to holidaymakers until 30th April. So I imagine your dates must be May or later.

If you are actually making the bookings rather than just having a look, it could be the companies suspect they will have to close but are taking deposits so they have money in the bank. Personally I will not be booking anything for this year until things settle. Mrs P had an Easter booking at a rented lodge in the Lake District for her and our daughter and she cancelled that a few days ago, she offered to pay but the owners did not want anything. The owners may be happy cancelling since it avoids problems in deep cleaning between stays and reduces their personal risk of catching anything.

I am avoiding people at the moment due to a number of hospital checks, one last Friday, one Sunday and another on Tuesday. I would be horrified if I picked up something and then passed it on to the NHS or anyone else. Then depending on the results I might need treatment but hopefully not, I do not want my cancer to have come back. At the hospital measures have been taken to minimise the virus risk, only people with appointments are allowed in the clinic areas (so Mrs P was turned away and not allowed in the waiting area), the waiting area seats are 2 metres apart, receptionists wearing gloves, hand cleaning gels/sinks, the tables and seats have been removed from the cafe area, no visiting allowed.

Our daughter is a high school teacher and it looks as if only 20 children have gone in today out of around 1500 so a lot less than they were expecting. All the staff went in and now have to sort a rota of teachers to look after them for the next weeks but may only need 2 teachers each day. Should be interesting to see what is decided.

Just had an email from Morris Leisure to advise they are closing all their sites until further notice. Not sure why I have received it because I do not have a booking with them.

Email says they will roll forward deposits for 12 months or will refund payments made, less a £10 administration fee.

Our only booking left at Tatershall lakes was cancelled by the site yesterday.

Didn't matter to me we were not going anyway.

I'm not bothered about the lost nights away or the money. Just hoping all my family are still with us after this is all over.

We hear of people dying alone on camp beds in tents while terrified and gasping for breath yet people still wont STAY AT HOME AND AVOID NON ESSENTIAL TRAVEL.

Selfish, selfish, selfish.

Just been having a look around other parts of the world.   This is outside San Marco in Venice.   Normally at this time of day the square would be bursting at the seams.   They're certainly taking the lock down seriously.

Is it me or is it simply incomprehensible why anyone should want to damage ambulances at this time?

Andy, as I'm sure you know, if these "persons" are actually apprehended, the courts will give them a "slap on the wrist" and tell them what naughty little boys and girls they are. My punishment would be a week in the stocks with a birching every day. (and NO medical help, just a bucket of cold salt water thrown on the wounds). Barbaric? Maybe, but so is damaging ambulances at ANY time.

I think that there is a good case for a helping of poetic justice when someone displays such a self centred and ignorant attitude such as "and I stand to get some of my money back I will agree to stay at home! ".

If he and or his family become infected or worse still go the way of so many would he still have the same attitude ??

Life in general can be a journey of chance with some winners and sadly some losers. Your outfit can never be left to chance. A short-while carrying out essential checks can ensure a long-time of happy & safe caravanning for all concerned.
Ignorance can often be bliss but is certainly not an excuse and when continually disregarded they can be totally disastrous for oneself and the innocent parties.

Personally I think it should be treated as an act of terrorism and they get the same treatment and sentencing.  Surely they would have CCTV on a site like that or even a watchman as the ambulances must carry valuable equipment?
