There seems to be confusion regarding gray, black and surface water.

Gray, is sinks, washing machines, showers etc.

Black is more comely referred to as foul.  Toilets urinals etc.

Both of the above are combined for disposal.  The different terms are mostly used to help identify the type of pipe used in above and below ground drainage.

Surface water is exactly what it says.  Roofs, patios roads etc.  This is disposed of as much as possible, separately from the foul.   Often soak-aways.

There is just one reason for the separation.  That is to help prevent sewerage works overflow discharge into the river system.  Although this still happens all too often.

You're probably right in the majority of cases but it's not always the case. We collect surface water and the shower water and use it after a bit of filtration for flushing the loo's. We can also feed the grey water from the washing machine into the system if it hasnt rained for a while.
It does make a big difference to the amount of water we use.

Fantastic use, but does not change what I said, you are just taking some surface and grey water, putting it to use and then it will go into the foul.  But good on you for doing all that.

Well OK then, in reality ALL of it gets combined eventually and the water cycle repeats, the foul / black water ending up the in the cup of tea in your hand LOL.

Be nice if it’s treated by man and nature on the way?

London's water has been passed a couple of times, by the good people of Oxford and Reading and then put back into the Thames.
