Where to purchase new tyres

Recommended Posts

Do you have any recommendations as to supply & fit of new tyres near Oxford.  I have tyron bands fitted.

I use National Tyres and keep an eye on-line offers by subscribing.

Kwik-fit I think claim to understand Tyrons, or at least used to.

I just let my dealer sort it out! Never been ripped off yet!

I got a lot of quotes and f1 Autocentre were cheapest by a long way. When I had the tyres fitted the manager explained that they sell them at a loss in order to generate customers.  It worked in my case, I went there for brakes and have just booked a service. If you know which tyres you want go on line and call for the lowest price

Have a look at ASDA, they do some amazing prices, fitted at your local tyre centre.

AJG

+1.

Ordered two for fitting at my local Formula One Autocentre but took my wheels to them, worked out fine.

Mind you when I first checked with them what the procedure was the chap on the desk said 'please tell me they don't have Tyrons fitted', which they didn't.

Have a look at www.blackcircles.com

You pay the stated price which includes fitting at a tyre depot of your choice. Not sure if they do caravan rated tyres though.

Not trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs but be sure to get the correct load rating as most caravans require a load rating that’s way higher than most car tyres. I often wonder how many caravan tyre “failures” are due to the owners just looking at the size and buying (say) 185/65 X 13 tyres purely on the lowest quoted price without considering the load rating, bet it’s a fair few.

Tyres on the Drive - prompt efficient service at a time to suit you, and can handle Tyron fitting as well.

:Plus1: for TotD.

Cheapest price for the tyre I wanted, quick appointment, came out to storage, arrived on time, very pleasant fitter, knew all the safety procedures for jacking up a caravan, Tyrons not a problem, and the tyres were both less than 3 months old.

Plus you don’t have to take your van anywhere or remove the wheels and take them to a fitter.

Would definitely recommend.

I used e tyres as they come to you. Price and service was good.

The problem with most tyre fitters is you need to get into their yards which are often tight and not designed for long caravans although come will come to you which I find by far the best option.

Bought mine from Camskill...

Nexen Rodian CT8 - 195/70 R15 C 104/102T TL

Fuel Eff.: C  /  Wet Grip: A  /  NoiseClass: 2  Noise: 70dB

... delivered to the house and I took them and the wheels to our little local tyre place for fitting & balancing for a £25 for the three.

We used Kwik-fit, they came out to the storage yard and did the job no problems.

Just let them know you’ve got tyron bands(not all their vans have the removal tool)

I bought a pair of 195/70 R14 reinforced tyres from blackcircles in September 2017, £103. Looking at their web site you can still get a pair for just over £100, only a few quid more expensive than non-reinforced.  Had them fitted at an ATS depot; I don't have Tyrons but the question never arose.

Kwik Fit mobile, booked on line, chose the tyres I wanted, came when booked for, he checked that the chosen tyres were suitable for the caravan, also checked the date markings on the tyre to show they were a couple of months old, all done on the drive, didn’t try to sell me new shock absorbers or any other parts that didn’t need changing. 100 % better than going to the branch.
