My built in charger has failed and i would like to replace it with a more efficient 3 stage or intelligent charger. does any one have any wxperience of this?

I am a competent electrician and DIYer by the way.

You need to identify the charger unit already fitted, and the make/model/year of caravan.

Yes I did exactly that to my Bailey Senator. At the time Amperor Chargers were available, really good quality, excellent design and powerful at sensible money. I took the Bailey one out (mounted in the top of the consumer unit, crazy location), mounted the new one behind the consumer unit, connected up and all has been great since.

I'm not familiar with the unit you have; is it integral to the other electronics?  If it's a standalone charger/12V supply you could replace it with a smart battery charger and save.

Also, consider contacting these guys for a repair.
