Damp in roof

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have an old ish van and have recently noticed since the temperature has started dropping that I have a damp patch in the kitchen. I've took a section of the roof out and the insulation has dropped down off the metal roof and is soaking wet. Condensation seems to be the culprit..

What can I do to stop this? Should I improve the insulation to prevent it?

I should mention this is in a static

Thanks

Condensation forms when warm humid air contacts a cold surface, presumably through the gap between the insulation and the aluminium. In this case, I would replace the fibre insulation with a foam material (perhaps celotex) glued direct to the aluminium.

I would continue looking for an external leak. For it to be condensation from the warm air inside, the air would need to be getting passed the ceiling. Unless there are gaps in the ceiling, the damp has to be coming from outside.
