Specialised Tow Pro +

Recommended Posts

Looking at getting one of these, mainly for the times when I tow with my LR Defender as it can kick out some black smoke which stained some of the bodywork on my last caravan. Now I've got a brand new caravan I want to try and prevent the same happening.

At £300 they are a bit dearer than the Protec equivalent, but I like how the Tow Pro + allows access to the front locker & windows, and they now do them in full black colour.

Anyone using one?

Not using the pro+ but a standard specialised one. More than happy at the quality of it, and the ease of fitting

We have one LeadFarmer as it came standard with our new caravan as part of the bling.

Used it twice now, a good fit.

Cleaned the front and put it on today for Wednesday's trip.

If you get one just make sure that the business side is kept well clear of the floor as not to pick up any would be abrasive debris.

Our Pro-Tec also permits access to a front locker and the front windows.

It's always passed its MOT. It's 23 yrs old, and only kicks out the black stuff when putting your foot to the floor and  trying to accelerate  quickly (which isn't very quick).

Im sure someone will be along shortly to TELL you they are a total waste of money etc etc & you’d be better spending the money on fixing your LR etc etc,

I have used a tow pro+ for a couple of years now,

plus sides, it is very well made & very easy to fit & remove,

I did think having access to the window & locker would be handy but in reality it is quicker to remove one side to gain access to the locker & the one time I left it fitted & folded it down from the window on an overnight stop it flapped in the wind & I had to get up & remove it so we could get some sleep!

But my only real negative of the cover would be the weight of it & especially when wet it can “slip” down the van if you don’t keep an eye on it,

Had one for over 4 years now, 27,333 miles, very battered, zip coming apart, windows for lights gone but it still protects the van. If we weren’t thinking of changing the van I would be buying a new one.
