Does anybody have any site recommendations for the St Jean de Luz area?

Pitches must have water, preferably near to cycle paths, beach and near to town/village

Thanks

There's a site just a few miles along the coast at Urrugne called  Camping Larrouleta that I've used a few times.   It's quite close to the autoroute so it's popular with those caravanners who travel to southern Spain in the winters.   You can see my account of the site here

Keith,  But when?  Camping Ur Onea just a little way north of St Jean de Luz is good, and only 600 metres from a sandy beach, but it's only open from April to September.

We have stayed there a few times after seeing Jaydug's blog. It's a good site.

As it says in Jaydugs blog some of the pitches at Larrouleta are "grand comfort" and have water, drainage, and 10 amps electric, mostly on grass pitches but there are a few hard standings. But in low season the ACSI card rate for the grand comfort pitch is €22.50 compared to the standard pitch at €18, but these have no water or drainage and only 5amps electric.

The restaurant at Larrouleta has been improved and the pizzas are excellent. I stayed for 2 nights last week on the way back from Portugal and Spain and have used the site several times.

We like Tamris Plage. It's just across the road from the beach and close by bars and restaurants.

Always had a nice "family-run" feeling although I believe it may have changed hands or undergone some upgrades since our last stay. Easy to cycle down to St Jean de Luz along the coastal path and one can walk to Guethray and cath the train (I think to Hendaye) and then the Spanish narrow-gauge train to San Sebastian.

Have a look here at this post and also ones around it.

There may have been some other trips to this part of the world. Seem to remember a nice mountain train ride and tough walk down (La Rhune or similar).

Tis a great part of the world...

Back in 2016 we stayed at Larrouleta enroute to Camping Playa Joyel at Noja.
We had seen many good reviews and recommendations but were decidedly underwhelmed and the restaurant was one of the reasons so may try it again as it’s very well positioned.

Lost count of how many times we have been to Larrouleta, usually these days just a day or two en route to and from Spain  but have also spent a couple of weeks there at times. Cant fault it.
