what a strange topic header.

To add to CommanderDaves reply, make sure the tyre pressure you use does not exceed the maximum tyre pressure as may be stated on the side wall of the tyre.

Like lots of new members DKWYM fell foul of the requirement for a thread 'Title'. For some reason this is often mistakenly taken to mean the title the poster wishes to be known by e.g Zoe, rather than a title for the post, which is what is actually required. I've amended the title to something more akin to the content of the post.

I've got nothing to do on this hot afternoon

but to settle down and write you a line.

Not in the handbook, but I'm sure tyre pressures are in the Service book if you have one, along with wiring diagrams and other info.

41 psi or 42 psi depending on the MTPLM printed on the plate near the door.

https://www.swiftgroup.co.uk/owners/handbooks select 2004, then the Swift Technical Handbook for a reference copy for your caravan.

2012 Bailey Pegasus 2 Rimini towed by 2019 Ford Galaxy Titanium X, 2.0 EcoBlue, 8 speed auto.

Read back the document comander Dave gave and found next.

MPLW or whatever its called the max allowed total weight = 1350 kg

Original tyres 195/70R14 95 .

Is XL / reinforced/extraload tyre, maxspeed above 160kmph/99mph.

The N speedrated for trailer use only has 96 loadindex.

So has maxload of 690 kg a tire and need 42 ps pressure for that.

Maxcold pressure is probably only given on sidewall of 44 to 51 psi.

Filled this in in my made extra safe calculator.

Gave 47 psi advice

Then assumed 54 kg on towbar is 4%.

144kg weightdifference R/L in combination with lower weigt , before screws tremble loose from woodwork.

Howmuch can it dropp before overheating tires at 75mph speed.

41 psi then and again 144kg combined higher weight and weigtdifference before one tyre overheats and damages permanently.  This is the main goal of pressure advice/ prescription, to prefent overheating.

Mind that you determine it with all the reserves, but by inacuracy's wich always are, you might yust have enaugh to prefent overheating.

This is cold pressure, so when in and outside tire same temp and 18degrC/65 degrF.  So when other outside temp you should calculate it back to that 18/65.

And check sidewall of tyres, if the tyredata still are OEM.

I have a swift Challenger 2004 SE and in the specification handbook it says 39psi so that's what I am working on.

I haven't checked the pressure using the tyre size formula as you should go use the handbook in the first instance and the formula if you don't have a handbook.

Just read John19 post earlier. He is correct that they are in the service book
