Moulesy
Good afternoon. Can anyone help me please. Can anyone advise me of a good solar panel fitter within the south Yorkshire area. Its fitting only. I have some silly quotes, maybe as its a caravan they hike the price up. Anything to do with leisure seems more expensive. Many thanks
shipbroker
Don't think anyone specialises in such work.....have you tried asking Yorkshire Caravans at Bawtry if they would do it or can they recommend anyone in the Mobile Engineering field. geoff Quote Kia Sorento KX-1 CRDI 4WD towing an Elddis Affinity

Rodders53
Silly quotes = 1. They don't want (or need) the job. 2. It's not a silly price but the true cost of a specialist doing it right. NB They can't guarantee the panel, controller etc.,. you are supplying, so they may be factoring in 'aggravation' when something goes wrong and they have to sort/advise maybe with a return visit (unpaid). They may not be familiar with the brand you've purchased, what extra parts (may or may not be ) needed to install, so allowing for extra time and materials. I've never felt the need for a solar panel in 25 years of caravanning. The specialist part is fixing the panel to the roof properly, including making a sealed cable hole and then routing the cable to the existing solar panel connectors on your 2008 Ace (near the battery box) 'invisibly' or near invisibly by using their skills and construction knowledge etc.,. However I reckon there's quite a few on this forum who have d-i-y fitted one and will be along to advise you how to if you want to try yourself? But to be frank, you need to sort your mains charger problem out first (your other thread)! That may need a friendly local (mobile) caravan technician to help you diagnose. They may also be willing to fit the solar when asked nicely, especially at the same time as other jobs that need attention? Many thanks What is a "silly quote", they aren't going to get any benefit from supplying the panel and accessories - the profit from supplying stuff often subsidises the installation so you'll end up paying the full cost of the installation work. I don't know what the hourly rate might be for a caravan dealer but try comparing it with say getting your van or even car serviced. You'll expect them to have the knowledge, tools and equipment and hopefully any of the bits that you might have forgotten they also have to work with stuff that you've given them. Try a mobile installer or do it yourself. It's not really a difficult job but can be time consuming especially if you don't have all the bits/tools. I'd guess it would be several hours if you want a proper job carried out Quote 2018 S-Max Titanium 2. 0 Tdci (177. 54bhp,180ps,132kw) Powershift + 2015 Unicorn III Cadz, Ventura Marlin porch awning
