Dream van - just for fun

Recommended Posts

I started to muse about various things I would like as standard on new vans. It’s just my view, and just for fun, but who knows, maybe some brave manufacturers might act on them.

Thetford toilets

stable type entry doors

solar panel

motor mover

transverse self levelling

all vans to have MTPLM capable of minimum 100kg upgrade over plated weight

all lights to be LED

Alde heating

electric heating option on towel rails

sprung seats

burgler alarm

active tracker (Phantom)

there are probably loads more, but mind has gone blank.

I don't need the shower or the oven or a tracker, though the alarm is handy ( for ins. )

I like the stable door , solar panel and motor mover,  a handle to hold to get in the door, a microwave. I like concertina blinds and locking window locks.

I would like better quality seats  and a decent payload.  I don't want Alde heating , I like the warm air heating.  I would like a twin satellite lead fixing so as not to have to use the window.

A van where everything worked as it should would be top of the list.

The one thing I have never seen offered but I would pay for would be a van that was self cleaning.

I would like to see the choice of options like the EU manufacturers in that you buy a base vehicle then add what you want in options. Then owners can choose if they want a microwave or oven or front drawer unit and the mtplm .

Sounds like you need a German caravan.

Well said Andy.

Just the one requirement from me too. To be waterproof when new, and remain so. Anything else is a bonus.

Gordon.

I'd want a 5th wheel, with the layout

-bed up front, and slides both sides to make a reasonably big room.

-Bathroom in the middle with a thetford toilet and decent size shower

- rear living/ kitchen area with slides both sides making that big space

for techy stuff

- battery bank under the floor accessible from the side, probably 3 or 4 110amp batteries

- 300 to 500wh solar panels on the roof

- generator under the floor

- TVs in bedroom and another in the living room

That should be big enough not to need an awning, but I'd still want an awning skirt rail and my current coveva windbreaks to step the dogs disappearing. You can probably tell from that setup I am mostly off grid.

My perfect 'van is already in production - the Fifth Wheel Co. Inos 😀. Ticks all the boxes with an options list to die for. Hmmm, comes at a hefty price though 🤔.
