Alko shock absorbers

Recommended Posts

Does adding shock absorbers to the Alko axle include bump stops?

The standard axle is free to move until the rubber spring becomes so compressed it virtually becomes solid.

Alko shocks work the opposite direction to most conventional car systems, on a caravan they compress in droop.

My reason for asking is:

Would fitting shock absorbers limit travel and stop the axle being overloaded when hitting a pothole?

I have an Alko Euro Delta Axle (an entirely different discussion) single axle 2000Kg MTPLM. It has shock absorbers (one of the criteria to allow it to be towed at 100 Km/h in Germany), as far as I’m aware it does not have axle bump stops. I’ve towed it in the European Capital of Potholes (the UK), no dramas.
