Brittany seaside site recommendation please

Recommended Posts

Very reluctant to leave beautiful site in the Dordogne but 2 week heatwave started with temperatures of 38 and 40 degrees making it very uncomfortable for us and our dogs.

Can anyone recommend a site near the beach not too far west in Brittany with large pitches and good facilities? So many in ASCI guide not sure where to start and unfamiliar with Brittany, never having stayed there before.  Many thanks.

Two star camping or full blown five  star holiday park?

For the former look at Camping l'Escale near Ambon.  For the latter somewhere like La Grande Metairie at Carnac.

Not been there myself but Benodet is highly recommended

We have just had 8 nights at camping Poulquer at Benodet. Five minute walk from a glorious beach and reasonable sized pitches with shade. Benodet is a very umcommercialised resort. Not sure though if there are restrictions over dogs on the beaches. Site is in ACSI guide. Owner does seem to like to cluster Brits together.

We did a couple of trips to camping du letty in benodet

The site backs onto a beach and it’s about a 20 minute walk into the town

it has a pool / small water park and excellent takeaway which did a lot more than the usual burger and chips or pizza.

I totally agree that it's a site well worth visiting. The pitches near the sea are very sandy, while those a little further back are good quality grass (an unusual surface so close to the beach).

Ended up at camping megalithes in erdeven nr carnac. Lovely quiet site with very large pitches mature trees and hedges. Modern very clean facilities toilets with seats and toilet paper.... Nice swimming pool. No bar etc and hardly any tourers no other brits as far as I am aware. However it is still 31 degrees at 20.45.  Couple more days of this and then forecast to cool down I hope!
