When Not to Blow Your Nose!!!

Recommended Posts

Chris Froome had been conducting a reconnaissance of the fourth stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, when, while blowing his nose, a gust of wind caught him out and he crashed into a wall. He has sustained critical injuries and will be out of racing for the rest of the season.

Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope to see him up and racing as soon as possible.

Yes sounds like a nasty crash, I'm unhappy for him he had a great chance of winning the tour again. I guess that makes Team Ineos's job a little easier though as they can now focus all their efforts on Geraint Thomas but without Froome in the team it has to be a massive blow to their overall GC chances..

Shame not to see him in the TdF. His injuries do sound very serious and I don’t expect him to be racing again this season. I presume he was on a t/t bike and this goes to show the instability caused by deep section rims and the lack of leverage from t/t bars. The ride was “only” a recce, but goes to show the complete

need for concentration at all times. Brad Wiggins expectation for a t/t was lungs bursting, legs on fire and face covered with snot.   Don’t know if he fulfilled this in a recce.

Depends how long he is out could be the end of his career at that level. Hope he recovers soon.

They are saying that he will need months of special care and rehabilitation and will take all his stamina and courage to get back to anything like normal.

Yes John19, he was on a TT bike at the time.

Apparently using both hands therefore riding "no-handed".  Just shows even the pros get it wrong sometimes.

The UCI has announced today, the 2011 Vuelta a Espana champion Juan Jose Cobo has been found guilty of an anti-doping violation. this could see Froome, who finished second in the race, retrospectively awarded the victory.

UCI announced it several hours ago but no decision on awarding Froome with the title has been made yet.

IF he is given the title then the first ever British winner of a cycling grand tour moves from Wiggins shoulders to Froomies.

On another issue, Adam Yates retains the leaders jersey in the Criterium Dauphine with a 4 second lead. He may well lose it in the mountains tomorrow or Saturday but both Yates twins just continue to impress. Sponsors Mitchelton Scott (Australian) must be well pleased with both of them.

Hard to believe it took them this long to come to a decision.
