gwallwin806
I currently have a 4.5kg Calor Gas Blue Bottle (see pic). I'd like to convert to a Flo Gas (grey and green) 5kg. What is required in order for me to change? A new regulator or more? Please be specific so I understand lol. Thanks. Woodentop
As your regulator is fixed it is a universal type and will work with Propane or Butane. All you will need is a different pigtail if you change to Propane as that type has a left-handed male thread as against the right-handed female used on Butane. Propane is usually preferred for caravanning as it will continue to work at much lower temperatures than Butane. Standard sizes for Butane are 4.5Kg and 7Kg, and for Propane are 3.9Kg and 6Kg. If you change to Propane make sure to get a pigtail with a finger wheel as you won't need any tools to change it as you will with Butane - they are widely available on line for about a tenner or so. Gaslow products will meet your needs. Finally you might want to consider Gaslight available from Flogas and Homebase. They use fibre-glass cylinders which are significantly lighter than steel, and you can see the gas level inside. They come in 5Kg and 10Kg and although they contain Propane the connection adapter works with your existing Butane pigtail. Flat_at
You have a bulkhead regulator fitted already so, if the Flogas bottle you are getting is the same as the "old" BP gaslight, all you need is one of these https://www.gasequipmentdirect.co.uk/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=24182211 Your present butane pigtail nut screws onto the thread and the adaptor clips onto the bottle. Also I see that your pigtail is dated Dec 2013 , it is "recommended" that they are changed 5 years after gas is first passed through them. https://www.gasequipmentdirect.co.uk/roi-butane-218lh-x-w20-c2x23966656 Hope you get sorted Edited May 26, 2019 by Flat_at Doh, again Quote I'm not afraid of hard work, I'm terrified of it! Why not mention Flo Gas (grey and green)? macafee2 The OP mentioned changing from butane to Flo gas (grey and green) 5Kg which is propane. The links which I provided show the items which he needs to complete his plan. I understood what I meant and I'm not that bright 1 Quote I'm not afraid of hard work, I'm terrified of it!
