No gas in caravan elddis hurricane 1993

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I have recently joined and introduced myself on the new members page.

I do have a couple of questions if i may.

It seems no gas is getting to the appliances cooker hob fridge heater.

What i have done so far to isolate the issue.

Checked gas bottle for gas.

Regulator working fine as removed hose from van and checked for flow.

All internal valves are open.

The only thing i can think is there is another isolation valave that i have not found.

You help will be kuch appreciated

I am not familiar with your particular van but there is usually one set of isolator valves, generally located under the sink.

It is, however possible that the pipes are blocked with a thick greasy substance (some controversy over what causes it), in which case they need to be disconnected and cleared with compressed air.

Being as gas is dangerous stuff this may be best left to a specialist.

Stevan

Thank you for this. I will investigate with a freind of mine who is a gas engineer. I do have a compressor so may be just a matter of a service.

Has the caravan had a service lately (within last 12 months) if not that would be a good thing to do and they could sort the  gas issue at the same time.

Did you buy from a dealer in which case will likely have been serviced? If not you could look up a local caravan engineer who would ensure it is serviced correctly and is safe.

All working safely.

Cleaned gas lines through with high pressure air supply and all working fine after safety checks.

Thank you

Some say this is a build up of the plasticisers used in the rubber hoses, others say they are "heavy ends", impurities in the gas which condense out in the pipes over time. Either way, a common problem in older vans, and a swine if they clog the regulator.

Those days the black rubber pipe had to be changed yearly because of degrading, the later black pipe had a five year lifespan.

Gary also commented on the crud being present in older caravans.
