I can not see hydrogen being the future, the electricity needed to create it might as well be put straight in to a car and miss out any inefficiencies in making/using it, any new high pressure storage tanks at the forecourts and any production plants needed. 

 

I am surprised battery trailers are not being offered as a means of giving long distances between charging up. If speed limits for towing are kept the same then time is still saved by not stopping to charge up. Wagons could do the same, with the cab having 2 trailers, one for the goods being moved and the other full of batteries.
