Converting Gas heater to use Electric aswell

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 2006 Adria Altea with a Trumatic Heater that is gas only.

The people we got it off have an electric element that they gave us.

What kind of job would it be to convert it over & rough cost?

Also is it worth doing?

Cheers

If it is the right element for the heater it would not be a huge job for someone who knew what they were doing to fit it.

However, arranging for an electricity supply to it and a thermostat to control it is most likely a bigger job.

Doable, but probably not worth the cost of getting it done.

The fact that you felt the need to ask suggests that you are best not trying it yourself.

Similar answer to the above post. If the element you have been given is actually a conversion kit which was sold by Carver/Truma for some years, then it would be do-able. if its not the proper kit designed for after sales fitment, then I would leave it alone. Buy a cheap fan heater and plug it in.

Think portable electric fan heaters can be had £10/15

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I don't think it is a conversion kit, i will have to double check on that.

I would definitely not be messing with it myself, i haven't got a clue.

Cheers
