K A Bean
Any one had experience of towing using a BMW 3 series 2.0d m sport tourer (2014) if so what do you pull?
Padmiester
I towed with a 320d touring and now a 325d touring both m sports. In my opinion both are excellent tow cars and haven't had any issues while towing. My van has a mtplm of 1380kgs and it's no bother. They have plenty of power and torque which makes the steeper hills a breeze. Also I find being rear wheel drive and having a low centre of gravity helps to make the outfit stable when towing. I would say that getting the nose weight right is important (as it should be with any towcar) as you notice a massive difference when the 75kg is exceeded. EEnBEE
I agree with Padmiester on the towball weight. Although mine was a 330d x-drive M-sport with 19” rims, if you accidentally went above 75kg, it was noticeable - increased pitching particularly, towing MPLM of 1475Kg. It could occasionally ‘unclick’ the rail behind the rear seats, presumably through body shell stress - didn’t like that. Through trial and error, I found the best performance was towbar weight 70kg, full load tyre pressure on rear, normal at the front, sport suspension setting (but transmission set for Comfort). Once I’d got those settings sorted, I found it towed really well. Hope this helps. Ian
