Thanks Geoff but I have along standing aversion the to FleaBay due a very disappoinitng transaction some time ago.

As I have one of these caravan things I could choose to stay near to source of the bottles almost anywhere in the UK.

That link isn't free delivery Geoff, it's free local collection only. ...............

However, when I lived in the area some years ago I used that seller (TentHireDirect)  regularly and can vouch for them. They're an old established company quite near to J10 of the M6 so if you're passing they're always a good cheap source of all sizes of Calor bottle.

Where is the M6?

Handy for getting down from Cheshire maybe?

Thanks for the tip as I frequently use the M6 to and from junction J10a with the M54. Do you happen to have a web address for them please?

I have found the address details from shipbroker's eBay link.

They are my routine "go to" dealer for accessories. Last time I spoke to them about lites they did not expect to ever receive any more!

I'm starting a new topic. It will be headed:

If I tell you the name of the poster who claims to know where there is a supply of full Calorlite bottles, please tell me the poster's general location.

The names so far are:  AndersG, shipbroker

FYI I live in Chester but can and will travel.

I changed them all over the country last year but the only one i remember the name of is Towler & Stains in Keighley, Yorkshire, they had over 20 at my last visit in October.

Yes that appears to be the one. It is midway between my home and the storage site. It is also very close to a customer who I used to visit 50 years ago, before the Midlands link to the M6 had been completed. I also used to leave the M6 at J10 and rejoin at J7 when continuing to Coventry and the M1.

Thanks to all who responded.

I contacted TentHire Ltd aka a2zcamping.co.uk mentioned by several contributors, a week before a planned journey to south west London. I was assured that they had a number of Calorlites in stock and they were also expecting another delivery before the day of my proposed visit.

Thanks to all who responded I now have a full Calorlite bottle alongside  a part used bottle in the front locker of my caravan.

Looks like I'm not going to be able to get my BP gas lite cylinders in my new caravan locker :-(

I have 2 of each Calor and Flogas steels 6 kg.

Caravan takes one 6 kg and one smaller size than 6 kg.

So seems I'm stuck with them unless Calor Lites are physically same size and its free to swap.

Any ideas?

Calor lite are the same size as steel but hard to come by and most dealers will not allow you to swap at all, let alone free!

They are now discontinued so are getting rarer, who knows when the planned replacement will arrive!

Well, how about this for a reason I was given about 2 weeks again when I phoned to check stock at my local supplier (CalorLite) - “Calor are not refilling them due to the weather conditions at the moment, phone again in 2 weeks”.  Hey, whatever did the weather have to do with it? ? Which reminds me to phone again. ?

I have been in my garden shed and I have 2 6kg. propane one full and one empty from Flogas.

Also 2 6kg propane one full and one empty from Calor

Now my caravan will take one 6kg and one 3.9kg.

Have phoned Flogas and they are going to deliver me one 3.9kg in exchange for the empty 6kg  just under £16 paid by CMC.

Was very easy will I get same from Calor?

Not sure what type of stockist to attempt, in past prices very variable sometimes higher than recommended price, and often difficult to swap gas or size.

I got the refills for 6kg at a building trade place at a lot less cost than caravan places, its been a few years since I used these steels as I've been on BP gaslite, they not fit this caravan.

After getting very negative replies about CalorLite availability from a major Calor agent not far from home, pleased to say we have been able to exchange like for like at Lydford Caravan Site, where we are currently staying. Price higher than we would normally pay, but not overly concerned. Hopefully Calor will have resolved the “lite” bottle issue by the time we next need one.

Got one from our local caravan dealership a couple of weeks ago. They said there was no problem with the supply of Calorlites.

In the latest issue of the C&CC magazine, page 99, there is an update on the Calor Lite replacement cylinders.

Calor explain that their research has concluded that there isn't great demand for Lite cylinders, especially caravans. Another factor is the growing popularity of fixed tank installations (and presumably refillables) and EHU. Therefore it is highly unlikely a new Lite cylinder will be produced. Calor are also seriously concerned about the illegal refilling and misuse of all gas cylinders which has added to the lack of supply as users keep hold of them. There are still some 25,000 Calor Lite cylinders in tock across the country.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm only reporting the article!

I have two Calor Lite cylinders that I have been trying to replace without any luck at all. So the news from LE . that Calor might not replace lite cylinder seems to have forced my hand, it looks like I will return the cylinders get my £7.50 each and head over to Flogas.

I am still debating safe fill but they look to be a heavy cylinder,  as they seem  built to withstand a lot of handling much the same as an ordinary 6kg Calor
