Shower tray

Recommended Posts

Some time ago I sealed the shower tray with a silicone bathroom seal, the problem I have it keeps coming off, any idea on how to reseal the edges to the tray?

Search for a supplier of Sikaflex 221 which is a good sealer / adhesive.

Sikaflex 512 is better suited to exterior use when sealing caravan bodywork.

Be aware that both stick well to a clean surface but both are difficult to remove once cured.

The tray needs to be almost clinically clean before applying sealant of any sort. You need to first wash it well, then wipe it over with meths or white spirit or  similar, and finally with lighter fuel. That will remove all traces of glue or any other contaminant. Then you can apply your new silicon sealant.

Sikaflex 512 is a very strong adhesive sealant but if used with care should do the trick. Just be aware that once cured it is virtually impossible to remove. Personally I would have used Sikaflex 221 polyurethane sealant.

Gordon.
