Cancelled breaks

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else had their caravan break cancelled this holiday period due to the wet weather.  Had a call from Tattershall Lakes, Lincolnshire today who have cancelled my booking for 10th April. ......

Yes, see my other post - Sandy Balls in the new Forest - we were supposed to go Good Friday, spoke to the lady later in the day who said that it took 4 hours to get all the caravans leaving off the pitches!

Yes we had our break to a CL just outside Malton cancelled, as the site is waterlogged.  We were supposed to going tomorrow.   whether that would have been possible anyway with the weather forecast

no but once we arrived it was apparent it should have been cancelled. So vey muddy by the end of the week and that's with me leaving car on owners drive and walking across the field.   Awning is now hanging, drying in garage. Everything else that was outside is muddy.

Following several of the FB caravanners sites and loads have had their trips cancelled. Many of the sites in Brean were cancelling grass pitches. We left Hurn Lane CMC site on Thursday and the wardens were phoning people to say that they were likely to be on grass. Over 20 cancelled for the weekend!

We've just back from Whitby that way this afternoon and the fields are waterlogged, we've come back through rain, snow, hailstone and sunshine, Whitby was manic and the site we went to check-out wasn't up to much (to be polite).

Which one - we're on one near Pickering and its very wet - in hindsight owner should probably have cancelled.   Car is on drive and have to paddle through mud to the van.

Paul - were in Whitby today, was surprised how busy it was and yes, the weather was 'interesting'.

We were at a site last week where the ground was already quite boggy in places.   People were invited to move onto available hard standings to mutual benefit.

Can I ask - where site owners cancelled bookings were refunds made in full?

The site we are on ((Wooler, Northumberland) is very wet.

The owners pitched our van using a Manitou telescopic handler which was able to push the van well onto the pitch without having to go on itself.

We had a night of heavy rain, then morning of snow yesterday. Today has been mostly beautiful, if quite cold. Amazing how much the pitch has dried - from sodden to merely very wet. It is an upland site by a stream though.

So glad they didn't cancel us. They did phone to see if we were still coming (we were only an hour away), maybe they would have cancelled if we hadn't set off.
