Dometic Toilet Spares

Recommended Posts

I have just returned from a 9 day break at Southport with the grandsons ( 5 & 6 ) who were absolutely fascinated with everything toilet related, the ( rubbish ) Dometic has leaked into the compartment due to a poor seal I think, it has had 10 times more use than normal, the float has given up the ghost & broken off & the clear plastic badge on the cistern has split on the flush button & broken off .

All easily fixable I know but does anyone on here know where I can get all the parts I need in one place.

I've done the usual online search & can see seal kits at one place, the float at another but can't find the panel badge anywhere, it's part number is 2426010977 if anyone needs it. Another annoying trait of the Dometic has also reared its ugly head, the continuous flush, press the button & pink water half fills the bowl, I think it's caused by condensation short circuiting the switch contacts, I'm going to take the panel out & spray with WD 40 to see if that cures it, sorry to go on but I absolutely detest Dometic products & once I get started . .................

My next van will be bought on the absence of Dometic !!.

Couldn't agree more about the rubbish Dometic loo (pardon the pun).

Fortunately, Lunar have moved back to Thetford in 2017, at least in the Clubman.

Is it pink that is getting into the compartment?

I have had so much trouble with our pathetic Dometic. Been completely changed once, I now have another new control panel ready to go in.

Dealer just would not believe me when told that the compartment got a good cupful of pink in it every couple of days. I supplied pictures. Eventually they discovered that there was a split bend on the flush feed. Seems like mine had it on both units. Simple quick fix. So message here to Dealers. LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER.

Still don't know if mine is fixed, not had a chance to test it. I have told the dealer to forget the guarantee limit. This goes on until it's fixed.

Have had my control panel out & found a thimbleful of pink water inside the housing, there is a pipe in there which I assume carries flushing water to the rim of the bowl, it wasn't quite up to the elbow joint, about an eighth of an inch off so I used some long nosed pliers to lever it all the way on . I have thoroughly sprayed it with WD40 & fashioned a plastic cover to replace the one that split, I stuck that to the inside of the panel sticker & replaced it all so that should keep moisture from getting in that way when my wife takes her shower, we'll see what happens next, just the seals & float to do now, I've seen them at Caravan accessory shop, float - £16. 27 & Leisure Lines, top seal/cassette seal £37. 46, I may just wait & see what happens when we use it again, we are away at Ayr CC site in 3 weeks with the Grandsons again for 4 days, that'll sort it .

Mine is at the dealers now and the same elbow has split. They are fitting that and a new tank since the level indicator stopped registering. Van at dealers to save me running back and forth but wait will be around one month.

Just returned from Ayr yesterday, the seal has definitely given up, the compartment was full of a yellow fluid when I removed the cassette in Barnard Castle, all cleaned out & disinfected but am going to dismantle it today & order some seals.

Quite a job getting the van & car back on the drive, the gas board have decided to renew the pipework in the street & my frontage has the main joint under it, I had to park up with the contractors lorries until they could source a steel plate to cover the hole, three hours later & I'm manoevering with the school traffic trying to turn round & get on my own property, the number of imbeciles who think you should reverse between two rows of cars parked on the pavement so that they can come through & the also park on the pavement is amazing . If the Scottish weather had been a little kinder we would have missed all this & still been there probably in Oban .

Best news I've had today, pity this seasons vans have got Dometic though, was looking at the new Coachman VIP & its all Dometic, toilet, fridge, cooker, aaaaaarrrrrgh.

I was trying to get a spare seal for mine, they are like rocking horse doody, I found one at Leisure spares, £37. 46, for a 4 inch Rubber seal, it's a toilet for a caravan not a space shuttle . They seem to be promoting changing the whole cassette & seat in a kit so hawking up the individual parts prices would probably force you into that route.

The seal is here for anyone interested,

In that case perhaps my dealer is wrong, or perhaps he was only talking about Lunar.

They've got some sense then, my Lunar has had the fridge fail just out of warranty & 4 or 5 faults on the toilet . I've left it all soaking in cleaning fluid while I have my lunch, I'm going to coat it in Thetford lubricant & reassemble it, we've got a couple of days booked at Kingsbury water park for the NEC show so that should sort it.

few photos of the disassembled Dometic, hope nobodies eating, the gunk on display is dried up toilet paper, like papier mache, I'm hoping getting rid of that with a good soak in dilute Elsan fluid & a stiff brush will give the relubricated seal a bit more flexibility . might be worth checking yours, its quite simple to get the top off, just extend the grey handle by freeing off the green lock & rotate anti clockwise, its a bayonet type fitting so should just lift off .

the seal was a bit stiff but is now very flexible, hope it works in practice, if it does i'll make this a routine job every few months. they are definitely 'before' pictures, every thing was like new afterwards.

Hi fellow Dometic Toilet owners.

we have just experienced a failure with the toilet flushing discharge part within the wc bowl rim. It has broken away leaving the elbow & pipe within the bowl rim and the cover piece coming away in my hand.

that now explains as to why we were experiencing, having pink solution water seep into the cassette area below, as each time the flush button was depressed, with this crack failure we never knew was there until the discharge part came away in my hand whilst cleaning around within the rim,

So the big question now is, is the elbow two part available to buy, and how do you separate the upper bowl to get within the inner side of the bowl to connect the pipe to this elbow discharge part?....

appreciate any comments and help me to get this sorted.

Has anybody experienced this problem that we have.

is it possible to acquire a replacement elbow discharge part ?.

and next question is how do you gain access to detach the flush pipe from the broken elbow bend within the  wc bowl rim?.

appreciate any help possible.

I know this isn't the answer you were looking / hoping for - but I would be inclined to bin the whole lot and start again with a Thetford. This is what I did with our new Knaus after experiencing one failure after another plus the bloomin' thing leaked from the seal every time it was used and nothing would cure it.  Rubbish flush, handle that jammed in the open position, useless wheels and then a flushing mechanism that packed up altogether - all after less than 5 months use. The parts used in the toilet are all flimsy and over-complicated in design and are never going to work properly.

It was an expensive replacement (£600) but relatively easy for the dealer to do and the flush water now has to be taken from the inboard tank (that actually turned out to be a bonus) - but (touch wood), I've not had a single problem since it was replaced

Cheers for that comments. I did have that thoughts in mind, but want to check all avenues before I commit

Hello Everyone

after consulting with my dealer to pursue a warranty claim on my behalf, only to come back yesterday 27 Jan 20 with a statement that Coachman will not replace the dometic toilet under warranty.

I stood my ground an d ask WHY?. Dealer stated due to wear & Tear and we broke it with rough cleaning????.

I strong email went back to dealer with my thoughts to explain the issues we experienced, and I received a call stating that Dometic was the ones that rejected the claim not coachman. and now Dometic have changed their mind and will supply a replacement toilet FOC, but not the labour cost. Dealer also stated that Coachman will honour the labour costs.

so all good in the end. just await delivery of new toilet, and I will arrange service at same time.

Good Result for us.
