russboy200
Are the altea 542dk hard to find? I'm in N Ireland and can only find 1. It's a 2011 for 10995. How does this sound to anyone who knows? The head room, size, sturdy bunks and layout really impressed me. Thanks in anticipation of some help.
Jiffy176
Hi Russ. In short yes. We brought ours new in 2014 for 15. 5k as the dealer special Sportline, they do hold their value although I think the price being asked is steep. We have 2 under 10s and basically the back of the van is theirs. It has stood up well to them trying to demolish it. The bunks are great and the bottom takes me at 5'10. We have had a few issues but all sorted under warranty and mainly 3rd party parts. Compared to the UK brands they are a minority's which is why you will struggle to find one but they do come up. They are a bit no frills but to be honest for the amount if time we spend in it, it suits us.
russboy200
Thanks Jiffy. No frills suits me well. As said its a really practical layout. Just so hard to get a handle on value. 10995 is the window price and not being able to find comparable vans it hard to know how to play the negotiations!!!! sunshinetours
I think you will struggle to find many in NI as they are rare enough in mainland UK! As for value they do keep their value pretty well and we only lost about £1k over 3 seasons on our 2010 one we sold the other year, but was also bought at a good price before the prices did go up on Adrias As with any van get it properly checked for damp, but we loved our DT and only changed as wanted a fixed bed for us. The bunks on DT or DK are a good size and headroom on DK isn't an issue (is more on the triple bunk DT) Good luck Quote Unless you've tried it, you simply won't understand. ..... baddon
We got one from (Altea 542DK) Scotland as its the van we wanted. 2009 for 8K including movers and an air awning. Changed to an Adora this year and went to England this time. Look on caravan finder for an idea of prices. I got the DK on gumtree and the Adora on caravan finder. Would not have anything else other than Adria if I can help it. they are great vans. Especially the air envelope to keep damp as bay as well as the long A frame which means you can put a 2 bike carrier on the front. Also sell really easily as they have VERY big fans. If you love em you love em. Good luck in your search. Where is the one you have found? You could save some money BUT you need to (if buying from a dealer) get them to agree you can have any warranty work done local to you. Our 542DK went just up the road to Moneyreagh. Unfortunately the DT seems to be more common. If I can help in any way let me know as at least I am on the same sdie of the puddle as you.
