Review: Chester Fairoaks, Cheshire

Recommended Posts

Easy access to Chester and to Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet.

Beautiful new toilet block, brilliant wardens, plenty of pubs and eating places within walking distance usual club standards.

We like Chester Fairoaks. It has useful transport links to Chester. We used a taxi to an from the Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Point. There are some photos of the site here http://www. davidklyne. co. uk/chester_fairoaks_caravan_club_site. html

As eldest daughter, son-in-law and number one granddaughter live in Elsmere Port, this is our most used site!

New toilet block is news however, didn't see a lot wrong with the old one!

Hope the CC is not being profligate with my money :)

Cheers

We last visited before the re-furb when the site had what is now the all-too-familiar car- park feel to it.

There are indeed plenty of eating places if you like pub chain or shopping mall fast food. If you like good

food there is perhaps one reasonable pub near the site, otherwise its into Chester

We like the site, we had 2 weeks in July 2015 and the same this year, cost 12% more this year ( naughty ). It is our first stop next year on our 10 week tour, then on to Broadway, Moreton, Cirencester, Henly, Oxford and Chatsworth, can't wait.

Happy New Year All.

Try the Albion inn, WW1 themed & very nicely cooked homely food, I had Staffordshire oat cakes & fry up, marvellous, the beer is good too. When we went under 30's were frowned on, no music other than the bars auto piano playing ' roll out the barrel ' type music, excellent & enough off the tourist trail to be not too busy . You can see it from the walls if you head toward the river from the clock tower, right hand side. It's got a website.

I would second that. Another good pub, albeit a tad expensive, is the Old Harkers Arms on the canal about 200 yds up City Road from the station. Nearer the site is the Bunbury Arms at Stoak, but it's probably a car ride.

nice site! been there twice! lost of nice places to walk to in the summer.

A nice walk is to park in zoo P&R, buy a ticket. Walk into and through to the far end of the zoo's car park. A lane/track runs [ast. Turn left and carry on down to canal and walk along canal into Chester - bus back. If it has been very wet can be some mud the last 100 yds of the track. Can also walk from the P&R car park back onto the A41 and along the footway to the right alongside the road. Not as nice the first part but probably half a mile tops and down onto canal tow path.

Good pub nearby http://bunburyarmschester. com/

I go with a group of friends several times a year and never had a bad meal. Very popular in summer.

Surprised that they had to rebuild toilet block. Doesn't seem that long since the site was built. We never stay there as we live about 8 miles away but have walked from P&R a number of times.
