Having read a post where someone luckily had a tree saw to help a stranded motorhome owner, got me wondering.

Now i carry the simple tools, but what would people think is Essential in their tool kit for travelling?

Nothing fancy, just a few spanners, screw drivers, hammer etc then the more unusual stuff is a spade, tree loppers and a good saw.

Online blog and travels, although sometimes there is a lack of travel due to work!

It's an uncharted sea, it's an unopened door but you've got to reach out and you've got to explore.

That really made me laugh out loud!

Land Rover owners carry all sorts! Spanners in the common sizes, Duck tape, screwdrivers, mini socket set, security nut & socket removal set, torque wrench, multi meter, wd40, 3 in 1 oil! Mini hand winch, assorted ropes, all stored under the boot tray round the spare wheel! Oh, and a tree saw and secateurs!

Probably more, but enjoying a glass of wine in a very grey south of France

There's the jack, large adjustable spanner, gas cylinder spanner,Mole Grips, Gas pliers, wire strippers, wire cutters, long nose pliers, hammers - ballpein, claw & club, socket set, torque wrench, 'Duck' tape, soldering iron, solder, multimeter and last but not least the towball attachable hand winch, which also works with a drill attachment http://inspirebte. yuku. com/topic/544/Tow-Ball-winch

I have one of these in the back of my Landcruiser. Used it once to drag a transit van out of a ditch / soft verge.

Multi-tools with saw attachments and pliers are very useful also a set of Allen keys for those pesky bicycle saddle adjustments. Always have some gaffa tape and insulation tape. Pocket multimeter and small screwdrivers. Also to change the car light bulbs I need a Torx screwdriver to remove the cover. Spare european heavy duty plugs are good as spares when having to use grotty French hookups!

I keep a small star screwdriver in the cupboard for fixing the TV onto the swivel mount, a gas spanner hooked inside the gas locker and apart from that very little, just a screwdriver and pliers.

The jack and wheel key are kept away in the back of the van just in case and I do carry a torque wrench in the car for checking the wheel studs.

I do a lot of preventative maintenance so I don't have to work whilst on holiday LOL

Large rubber mallet, tape, electric screwdriver and a couple of spanners. Not forgetting a decent torch.

The rubber mallet came in very handy this Easter as I had to hammer screwpegs into the hardstanding in the middle of the storm, so it's become my tool of choice for this year. Also doubles up as a beer bottle stand as its just the right width for one of the French stubbie bottles. ...
