I think we. Need more information, I for one have never seen a modern van Without some kind of 12v system, so exactly what are you trying to do?

Do you have a battery and charger in the caravan?

It is usually close to where the EHU ( 240v electrical hook up)

cable plugs into the caravan, under the seat.

Try a read of this link

Most caravans these days have a lighter socket - prior to that there used to be a two-pin outlet. If the latter is present then you just need to make up an adapter from plug to free ended lighter socket - not difficult if you can use a soldering iron.

OK. What sort of 12v setup do you currently have? Battery? Charger? Some 12v sockets? If you currently have some blade type 12v sockets, you can probably replace one with a cigarette lighter type socket, or replace the plug on the tv lead with one that fits your socket.

What 12v sockets are fitted to the van? when you have this info you can buy an extension lead with a female cigar socket and buy a 2 pin plug to fit the other end, cutting the lead down to the required length then fit the 2 pin plug

You must get the polarity correct, otherwise you are likely to badly damage the TV

Hi All

Depending upon the age of your Rialto there may be any one of several 12V socket styles already fitted. Some come with an integral TV aerial connection. I may be able to check the design spec if you let me know the year your Rialto was manufactured.

This is the first style socket and associated plug

This is the later Clipsal style of socket and associated plug

12V clipsal socket - later.jpg 12V clipsal socket with TV aerial conection - later.jpg 12V plug - later.jpg

In each case this adaptor can be used to convert to a cigarette lighter style connection

If a 12V socket has been added by a previous owner then a 2 pin W4 unit like this and associated plug may have been used

If this is the case then an adaptor like this will be needed to convert to a cigarette lighter style connection

I hope this is some help.

Gordon.

Thanks everyone.

I have never noticed these sockets so that's why I asked the question, I should have just checked really.

But thank for all your answers. I have the first style socket so have ordered the adapter.

Thanks again for the help, I just love this forum :-)
