Wasn't there a section where good or bad dealings reviews with companies/dealers/breakdown/insurance/etc. ? could be left, or have I missed it?

Any hoo!

You only know how good an insurance company are when you make a claim, now I do :(

August Bank holiday, coming from Somerset back to Dorset along a decent width B road, had a scrape with a sizeable branch. Looked like the hedges had recently been cut/butchered and this branch had been left hanging, had no chance to swerve as on coming traffic. Hit the vans front side light, cracking it, then scrapped the paint work and dented all the way down, and hitting three windows! :(

Phoned CG the next day, the claims company rang me the day after and assessor came a week later. Was told to take it to my preferred repair/service centre got 2 quotes of £2. 3k and £2. 5k! :o chose the cheaper one, which was Lady Bailey as their quote included new windows not buffed!

Given the go a head by the claims company, booked in, work done, van back on the drive 12th October. LB have done a great job. like a new van down one side, so much so I had to get the polish out and do the other side :( . (Those who own series 6 Senators know the unsightly white staining that occurs below the graphics, these are now all gone!.)

Not a complicated claim where anyone else was involved but a claim none the less.

Thanks to CG and LB for a job well done! :)

Great to see positive feedback on your insurance claim-'gives reassurance to others who are with the company or looking for insurance to cover their van.

I've been with Caravan Guard for years now, (luckily I've never had to make a claim). Glad to hear your positive feedback on them. (Still don't want to make a claim though!!)

My experience so far with Caravan guard is ok, in as much as they have not quibbled about paying out to have the van repaired etc.

I found it slightly frustrating that I had to do all the legwork regarding finding my own repairer, getting quotes etc.

Caravan guard are always very helpful on the phone, but i have found it slightly confusing that you can be passed around between caravan guard, AXA and lucas solutions as its slightly specialist.

Our claim is still ongoing (apparently the repairer i used doesnt do things to the best standard).... And in truth i am being particularly picky now as it wasn't right first time.

Nice to here some posative feedback though, especially about a Bailey dealer lol.

Our previous van, a Bailey Pegasus, had some excellent body work done by our Bailey Dealer - and the claim was through CG, who were also excellent. Sadly we had to leave them when we changed vans as they wouldn't insure our current van without a tracker being fitted. I believe they have now changed their requirements, but they have lost us now.

I was very happy with CG when we had an accident around 6 years ago and they had been very competitive since then until this year when the premiums suddenly increased by around £150. Not only were they a lot more more expensive than the Caravan Club their security arrangements were a lot more onerous, requiring a hitchlock, two wheel locks (single axle van) and for the van to be stored behind locked gates - it's only a Bailey Cadiz

I'm now with SAGA who came out about £250 cheaper and with the same security requirements as the CC (hitchlock or wheel-lock)

Interesting, my policy wants a hitchlock and one clamp, although mine is actually stored behind a padlocked gate in my garden.
