Caravavan Towing Cover

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Thinking about purchasing a caravan cover. I have looked at various prices and makes Pro tec, Specialised covers, Maypole,Quest. The more expensive ones are a tailored fit one draw back with these if you change the van then they may not fit.

Has anyone purchased a cover and had any dealings with a company called the Caravan Cover Shop they make a cover called Explorer Ultimate Caravan Cover they are a universal fit and it comes with a 5 year warranty. If anyone has purchased a cover from them or had any dealings with them i would be very grateful to hear how the cover performed.

Many thanks in advance for any replies

I haven't but we purchased a tow pro while at the NEC, we was going to buy the tow pro lite that was universal but settled for a fitted one ( £20 more) as the lite had quite a few straps that we agreed would flap about in the wind . . . Also someone else had commented that their one had ripped as it had been over tightened . . . Don't know if that helps your decision . . Also if you swap van they go pretty well on EBAY so you wouldn't be stuck with it .

Have had both makes before. would thoroughly recommend the tow pro elite. Superb quality and circa a minute to fit. But it is pricey. ....

Thought about one of these when we bought a new van earlier this year, but couldn't understand why they were so expensive. I suppose it's because they have to be more substantial than storage type covers which obviously aren't subject to the same forces as you will get when towing. Where do you store them when on site?

They come with a bag

They come with a bag

And they fold up quite small too. Easy to fit in the front locker.

Reason they are so expensive is that they are custom made and are made from neoprene rather than standard cover material, so stones just bounce off and much/flies can be wiped off

Main reason why we bought ours as our previous caravan ended up with stone chips in the front as the council around here like putting down stone chippings and then leaving it to the motorists to press the chips into the tarmac.

Exactly the same as us. Add in the fact I can't get mudflaps for the car it makes it a no brainer

Have been on two sites recently and noticed a couple of towing covers that are much shorter than our ProTec ( bought from Bailey ).

Ours covers nearly all of the big front window on the Unicorn 3 Cadiz whereas the ones I saw only covered about three-quarters of it.

One was a Specialized the other,on a Cadiz also, sported a Bailey badge so presumably came from there but Bailey Parts only shows the ProTec for the Cadiz.

Much prefer the longer one for obvious seasons.
