Let's All Start Again

The past month or so has been interesting to say the least, with me managing to inadvertently kill my silver T3 Touareg on an innocent trip to the tip. But with all insurances now settled I picked up the replacement today, a new shape T4 262 R line in pure white with piano black interior, talladega wheels and factory towbar.

Loving it so far and it was a pleasure to drive on the 90 mile journey home. Much better than the Toyota aygo I've been driving for the past 4 weeks.

Here are a couple of pics of my latest arrival:

Shame half term had to be cancelled, but just glad tbh to put the recent events behind me. Looking forward to having a complete white rig once the new Cartagena arrives in early December.

Just need to get those cleaning cloths out a bit more often compared with the previous silver one.

Aygo will be handed back a day early to the rental people tomorrow!!

For the record, I cannot fault both Axa insurance and VW Gap insurance (through mapfre) for putting up with my incessant pushing to resolve the write off over the past month. Would definitely recommend either of them to anyone.

Very nice car, by the way, any chance you could drop some stuff off at the tip for me if your passing this way?

Only a couple of old cans left over from a building job. :)

Lol

Think I'd be lynched if I did. 🤑

Not sure my lungs could cope though!

Looks great.

Our first Santa Fe was black but the new replacement is white - wife insisted! Although the colour doesn't accurately match the caravan it's close enough. They look well together.

We had a Lunar Ultima when using the black car and the windows in the caravan, as those in the car, were the "black" variety. My son suggested it looked like the Mafia were around - I quite liked that notion!"

Just need some mudflaps now ;)

Would love some! Can't get any for the r line. Daft idea as its the sort of vehicle that actually needs some!

it was just one of the many reasons I didn't choose the R-Line, but chose the SE +options instead

It's to do with the body kit apparently. You are right, the other place would illicit a too honest response

I know watt you mean. Couple of reasons I stuck with the r line. Discounts were higher on r line, and I'm on a monthly amount, so by raiding the options list it wouldn't work for me.

Wife didn't like the wood interior and kids liked the sunroof/electric boot.

In an ideal I'd have an SE, but I'd be massively raising the options list.

Other factor is that I needed a car pretty quick rather than factory order one after killing the other one

Lovely car. Don't kill this one!

I chose the SE but wish I had added the all round view option. Parking nicely between the lines in small parking bays can be a challenge.

That's the plan. If have liked the all round view and dynaudio, but that combined with as almost impossible to find including a row bar, unless I'd have ordered specifically. I just didn't have the time to wait

Having scraped the last car (against our own caravan), the area view camera was a must have for me - the air suspension is a luxury I'm starting to enjoy.

That's interesting BG. I particularly sought out a non-air given the 'squishy' ride, when towing, of an RRS I owned.

It's nice having the choice - I've currently got it set on "comfort" and it is, but I'll use "sport" mode occasionally when I do my Roger Clark impressions (who?)

Why its a 4x4?? Go find a big muddy field and give it some stick and get some nice mud flairs on the side. The brown mud against the white paint will look better than it ever will clean :)

Looks a cracking motor hope you really enjoy it.

I must be showing my age, Saturday afternoons watching rally cross and Roger in his escort. ..

Glad to hear it's all worked out OK in the end milkymarsh.

My faith in insurance companies was restored last year and again this month.

Our Defender 110 XS station wagon was stolen just before Christmas last year. It was insured by Aviva through the RAC.

RAC insurance immediately passed me on to Aviva when I contacted them on the day of the theft.

Here we go, I thought, I'm going to get passed on from one company to the next, but not so.

Aviva were on the case straight away and agreed to a total loss within a few days. A week after that they paid out the full price I had paid for the LR a couple of months earlier, plus £100 for contents.

Even though I had a protected NCD policy, I expected a hike in premiums on renewal this month. The renewal through RAC was higher, but I ended up getting the same cover directly with Aviva for +/- £100 less than last year on a newer but same specification vehicle, with the bonus of an additional £52 cash back through Topcashback. When I took out the original policy with RAC they were the cheapest I could find at the time. Granted the replacement does have a tracker fitted so that may have helped to reduce the premium.

I wasn't expecting such a quick payout after the theft or a lower premium this year than last, so 10/10 for the insurance industry. Not all bad news as we so often hear.

I bet you were a welcome visitor to your local VW dealership, someone actually buying something. ..lol. . got to be a few good deals on VW's atm.

Did get a decent slug off the used price. Compared with the same car I got a year ago, it was £1k cheaper and has 7500 less miles on it. Add in cheaper finance and I'm also saving £30 a month on what I was paying previously. And it has better looking wheels as well (one of the things I like on a car to be right - sad but true!)
